Greek shipping heiress Christina Onassis, now in the process of obtaining a divorce from her Russian husband, dances the night away at Studio 54 in 1979. Ms. Onassis plays an important role in running the shipping empire built by her late father, Aristotle Onassis. Mrs. Sergei Kauzov, better known to the world as Greek shipping heiress Christina Onassis, dances the night away with her escort, Nicos Boakis, at Studio 54 late November 24. Boakis' uncle is the general manager of the Onassis shipping empire, founded by Christina's father, the late Aristotle Onassis. Ms. Onassis was in the process of obtaining a divorce from her Russian husband.

Remarkably calm under the circumstances, Aristotle Socrates Onassis, international shipping operator, is shown in his office at 655 Madison Avenue in New York after hearing of the seizure of four of his whaling ships by the Peruvian Navy. The ships are part of a whaling fleet which was operating off the coast of South America under the Panamanian flag. Reports said the whaling fleet was bombed and strafed by Peruvian planes and warships because the fleet was allegedly operating in Peruvian waters.

Opera star Maria Callas and Greek shipping owner Aristotle Onassis spends a night out at the International Sporting Club here. The same night, they stole the spotlight at a charity ball that Monaco's Princess Grace gave at the palace - 1960.

Pallbearers lifted the coffin containing the body of Aristotle Onassis from a launch before a ferry with the family members arrived on the Greek millionaire's private island for funeral services and interment. Onassis died March 15th in a Paris hospital - 1975.

During the eastern Mediterranean cruise on board the yacht Christina, owned by shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, guests, who included Sir Winston Churchill and many other famous personalities, who visited the tiny Corinthian Gulf Port of Itea and later drove to Delphi to visit the ancient temples and ruins there. Two ladies here, with a little footsore, but having thoroughly enjoyed themselves, rest up for a moment on one of the archaeological sites. They are Mrs. Athina Onassis, wife of the shipping magnate, and famous American singer, Maria Callas. Later in the evening, the party returned to the yacht and sailed for the Aegean Islands - 1959.

The official Athens news agency reported October 30th that Onassis and his bride, the former Jacqueline Kennedy, planned to leave the Greek capitol by plane for New York on October 31st. The news agency, quoting Greek press reports, said the trip would be the first stage of an expected world tour that would include stops in Monte Carlo, the Bahamas, Bermuda and possibly Hawaii. There was no direct confirmation of the report - 1968.

Sir Winston was repaying the hospitality he enjoyed earlier in the Autumn, when he and lady Churchill enjoyed a cruise on the Onassis yacht - 1958.

12/29/1966-Paris, France: At the opening of a new play, "Pourquoi Pas," millionaire Aristotle Onassis perhaps felt the multitude of mini-skirts were just too much. Actually, the ship-building magnate was blindfolding his eyes against the flashes accompanying the many cameramen at the affair.

Followed by a bodyguard, the ailing multimillionaire shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis leaves his car at the Paris American Hospital February 7th to check in for treatment. He arrived in Paris from Athens February 6th, following a flight in his private jet - 1975

Opera star Maria Meneghini Callas walks with Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, shortly after his arrival by private plane at Bresso airport near here, Sept 3rd late the couple had dinner at a local night club. On Septmeber 9th the temperamental diva confirmed that her 10-year marriage to Italian millionaire Battista Meneghini is on the rocks. She said there would be a legal separation. She said her desire for a movie career caused the breakup and not her alleged romance with Onassis - 1959.

Attending a performance of the opera Norma, Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis and Greek actress Katina Paxinou chat at the ancient Theater of Edpidaurus near here, August 21st. Onassis was on hand to see Soprano Maria Callas, the star in the title role at the performance. According to rumor, Onassis and Miss Callas planned to marry soon - 1960.

1959- Milan, Italy: Romance denied. Millionaire Greek shipowner Aristotle Onassis talks with opera star Maria Meneghini Callas outside the LaScala Opera House here, Septmeber 7th. Onassis stated that published reports of a romance between them were "childish" The temperamental US born diva said she was "very annoyed" at the reports but refused further comment. Onassis said "we are simply good friends."

Elder statesman Bernard Baruch leaves the yacht Christina followed by his host Aristotle Onassis, late April 13th. Baruch visited his friend Sir Winston S. Churchill aboard the luxury vessel at Pier 92 on the Hudson River here. Churchill, who was delayed by inclement weather, planned to leave April 14th for Idlewild Airport and a plane to London - 1961.

The tanker Olympic Sun, owned by Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, is tied up here in Hamburg Harbor after unloading some 9000 tons of train oil. The oil, also owned by Onassis, was detained by a Hamburg court at the request of the Norwegian Whaling companies. The Norwegians had lawsuits pending against Onassis, whose whaling fleet--they claimed--allegedly was violated the International Whaling Regulation on its last expedition, thereby causing loss and damage to other whaling expeditions. According to Norwegian reports, the seized oil, valued at 765,000 pounds sterling, should have satisfied the claims. A Hamburg Civil Court were to deal with the claims - 1956.

As shown here, the Mosaic floor of the swimming pool aboard Aristotle Onassis' yacht Christina may be raised to deck level when not in use. The Greek shipping magnate arrived in New York on April 12, 1961, on the Christina's first visit, bringing an old friend Sir Winston Churchill. Churchill returned to London by plane April 14th, while the vessel was anchored in the Hudson River. Hundreds of guests were invited aboard. The Christina sailed for other ports June 3rd - 1961.

This is a file photo of the schooner Fantome. Aristotle Onassis had just sold his, the Fantome, four-mastered, 248 foot luxury schooner to Windjammer Cruises, Ltd. The terms of the sale were not disclosed. Captain Mike Burke, Windjammer's President, said the 1200 ft. yacht, presently in Germany, would undergo a $1 million conversion and refurbishing prior to becoming the flagship of Windjammer's Cruises Ltd., a public company whose shares were traded Over the Counter - 1952.
